FG to give Automatic Employment to All First Class Graduates

Make First class; Get employment. The labour of our youths shall not be in vain.

The Federal Government after the Federal Executive Council meeting yesterday, has resolved to give automatic employment to all First Class graduates in Nigeria. Speaking with reporters after the meeting the President’s spokesperson Reuben Abati stated that this was done to reward hard-working Nigerians and to encourage Nigerian students to study harder while in school. He stated

“The Minister Chief (Barr.) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike for education suggested all current and future graduate with First Class should be given automatic employment, and all members of FEC agreed with his stand. It is unfair after suffering to graduate with first class, they (graduates) still suffer to get job. We strongly believe this will change the fortune of our education sector, following the massive investment on infrastructural and human capacity development in the sector by this administration. They will make our youth study harder in school.”

This development comes barely 2 weeks after the out going governor of Anambra state Peter Obi doled out N160 million Naira to 160 first class graduates. Also governor Uduaghan had previously given N5 million each to first class graduates according to this report.

According to reports by Vanguard, following the recent Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment tragedy, the Federal government is trying to redeem its image among the youth, this may go a long way to booster the president’s chances ahead of the 2015 polls.

The Federal government is already partnering with various companies to create new jobs to help actualize this policy. In a report by Vanguard 2 days ago the Minister for finance and Coordinating minister for the economy Dr (Mrs.) Ngozi Okonjo Iweala the federal government is poised to create millions of jobs through diversification of the country’s economy by bolstering agriculture through NEDEP and manufacturing sector.

This is good news for First class graduates, some who when interviewed by Punch claimed they shunned campus romance in order to make it.
Do you think this is right? We this help our education sector?

This is a welcome development, if dr will be continuity for it

  2. That means there must be more strict measures to control who actually qualifies for First Class since experience has shown that many got it politically! Experience is the best teacher.

After this, the government, through an independent body should organize a TEST to drill the graduates to know if they actually qualify for it. Nigeria First Class in many Schools are very questionable!

  3. Maybe a bit late. but this really cracked me up. Nice one!

THAT’S A GREAT NEWS. BUT MOST PEOPLE ARE VERY CONFUSED ABOUT EDUCATION IN THIS ARRAY. WHY JUST FIRST CLASS IN UNIVERSITIES AND NOT EVEN DISTINCTIONS FOR POLYTECHNICS and COLLEGES. IF THAT LAW WOULD HAVE BEEN TRUE I DON’T THINK IT WILL STAND THE TEST OF TIME. WHAT EVER IS ACCORDED TO UNIVERSITIES LET IT BE ACCORDED TO POLYTECHNIC AND COLLEGES. FOR BETTER NIGERIANS OTHERWISE ELIMINATE POLYTECHNIC AND COLLEGES AND STANDARDIZE UNIVERSITY.
    THANK YOU.

PLS, IN THIS COUNTRY OF OURS, WHAT ARE WE CELEBRATING? IS IT CLASS OF DEGREES, INTELLECTUALS, ABILITIES, SKILLS, POTENTIALS OR WHAT? WHAT DO WE REALLY NEED IN THIS COUNTRY? DOES THAT MEANS ONLY THE FIRST CLASS NATIONALS CAN SERVE THIS COUNTRY OPTIMALLY? IF YOU THINK SO, THEN SOMETHING MUST BE WRONG WITH OUR NATIONAL ANTHEM, WHICH GOES THUS “ARISE . . . YOU CAN SEE THERE IS A NEGATIVE CORRELATION IN IT, THEN WITH DUE RESPECT TO THOSE WITH FIRST CLASS HONOUR IN THIS COUNTRY (ALTHOUGH MINE IS NEXT TO IT), LET US BE SINCERE, HOW FAR HAVE THEY BEEN ABLE TO EMANCIPATE THIS NATION FROM THE TWIN EVIL OF POVERTY AND CORRUPTION? SIMILARLY, HOW FAR HAVE THEY BEEN ABLE TO MOVE FORWARD THE FRONTIER OF NATIONAL TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE WHICH IS THE BED ROCK OF OUR ECONOMY? TO SPOIL THE SHOW, THERE IS THIS IRRATIONAL STATEMENT BY SOME HALF THOUGHT MINDED PEOPLE THAT ERRONEOUSLY GENERALIZED THEIR SURVEYED OPINION THAT NIGERIAN GRADUATE ARE NOT EMPLOYABLE, THEN IF THIS IS TAKEN BY OUR GOVERNMENT (IN WHICH ALL OF THEM ARE NIGERIAN GRADUATES, AT LEAST IN ONE OR TWO STAGE(S) OF THEIR EDUCATIONAL CADRES, BEFORE CHECKING OUT OF THIS COUNTRY FOR FURTHER EDUCATIONAL PURSUIT), THEN I THINK NIGERIAN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM SHOULD BE REVAMPED IF WE ARE TO EXPERIENCE THE POPULAR SLOGAN OF POSITIVE CHANGE. . .
