Index drops 0.09% as Union Dicon Salt leads gainers

Trading in equities continued on a bearish note on the Nigerian Stock Exchange yesterday, as more investors sold their holdings.

The All Share Index gained 0.09 per cent to close at 39,011.31 points, compared with the loss of 0.63 per cent to close at 38,975.16 points.

Market capitalization shed N11bn to close at N12.477trn, lower than the loss of N79bn recorded the preceding day to close at N12.477trn.

The NSE 30-Index rose 0.25 per cent to close at 1,803.46 points, while the Banking Index appreciated 0.48 per cent to close at 411.94 points.

The Insurance Index appreciated 1.32 per cent to close at 145.22 points, while the Consumer Goods Index increased 0.63 per cent to close at 1,115.10 points.

The Oil and Gas Index lost 1.88 per cent to close at 296.32 points, while the Lotus Islamic Index declined 0.06 per cent to close at 2,767.88 points.

The Industrial Index dipped 1.76 per cent to close at 2,276.32 points, while the Alternative Securities Market gained 0.30 per cent to close at 957.94 points.

Union Dicon Salt Plc led the gainers’ table with 47 kobo or 10.11 per cent to close at N5.12 per share, followed by Costain West Africa Plc with six kobo or eight per cent to close at 81 kobo per share.

Cadbury Plc appreciated N2.85 or five per cent to close at N59.85 per share, while Mansard Insurance Plc gained 11 kobo or five per cent to close at N2.31 per share.

Jos Breweries Plc was up 17 kobo or five per cent to close at N3.57 per share.

On the flip side, Transcorp Plc lost 46 kobo or 9.58 per cent to close at N4.34 per share, while Eterna Oil Plc shed 38 kobo or 8.70 per cent to close at N3.99 per share.

Oando Plc dropped N1.00 or 6.67 per cent to close at N14.00 per share, while WAPCO Plc fell N5.26 or five per cent to close at N100.00 per share.

Livestock Plc was down 24 kobo or 4.92 per cent to close at N4.64 per share.
