CitiServe, a member of Vigeo Group, has moved to extend its services to the power sector by creating door-to-door services for the payment of electricity bills, using its unique Orange Box Point of Sales terminals.
The firm had played prominently in the cashless economy with the financial sector.
The Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Mrs. Lola Ogunbambi, during a press conference, said CitiServe would be introducing its Orange Box for top up of electricity bills on prepaid meters, through its trained partners.
According to her, the firm had empowered its network partners to provide essential services in the on-going reforms in the power sector.
“Our role is to identify homes that need prepaid meters and to serve those with prepaid by enabling them to pay their electricity bills with the Orange Box PoS. Besides, the CitiServe Orange Box is configured to work with prepaid and conventional meters, since conventional meters will not be eradicated in the next two years because we have several of them in the country,” she added.
Ogunbambi listed some of the products and services provided by the company to include utility tokens and credit for telephone, power, PayTV among others, from the comfort of their homes and with flexible tools and 24/7 work hours to consumers in their neighbourhood.
She said CitiServe had empowered hundreds of its network partners to provide these services for power payment for prepaid meters in some parts of the country, noting that the availability of door-to-door services would now be possible in the power sector and that the synergy would provide a win-win situation for stakeholders.
Beyond payment channels to electricity consumers, other services by the CitiServe Network Partners in the value chain of electricity distribution, she explained, would include customer enumeration, meter reading and bill distribution to provide convenience.
CitiServe is an integrated e-payment solutions and services provider, licensed to provide financial services in the ongoing cashless policy of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
Prior to the advent of the CBN cashless policy, the company was actively involved in electronic vending distribution, focused on the sale of Personal Identification based products from its OrangeWorld Platform.
The platform, she explained was built to provide convenience, efficiency and value added services to consumers.
She added, “The strategy is to increase distribution and access to services it provides nationwide, reaching every ward in each state of the country.
“As an EVD company, CitiServe has over twenty thousand partners including private individuals, beneficiaries from states governments and non-governmental agencies nationwide on its network, developed as an empowerment strategy, to provide income avenues through commissions earned on sales of numerous products and services available on the channel in their neighbourhood.”
“Our focus is to expand access to services and inadvertently increase the number of account opening at banks and thus accelerate financial inclusion especially in the rural areas,” she explained.
