Micro Station urges FG to curb substandard phones

One of Nigeria’s foremost mobile devices retail outlets, Micro Station Limited, has called on the Federal Government to curb the infl ux of substandard phones and other inferior Information Technology devices into the country.

Speaking on the sideline of the opening of a new sales outlet of Micro Station in Lagos, the company’s Chief Executive Offi cer, Nestor Courtroup, said uncontrolled importation of substandard mobile devices has dire economic consequences for the country.

“We want the Federal Government and all its regulatory agencies such as the Nigerian Communication Commission, the Standard Organisation of Nigeria and the Nigerian Custom Services to ensure that substandard IT devices are not brought into the country. We should all know that as much as it affects those of us selling genuine devices in the market, it also has serious negative macroeconomic implications for Nigeria,” he said.

Courtroup said the opening of the outlet brings to three, the number of retail outlets operated by Micro- Station in Lagos. “Retail business is the way to go now and we are extending our retail business to meet the increasing demands of customers, hence the extension to Saka Tinubu street in Victoria Island,” he said.

According to him, Micro- Station is already operational in Computer Village, Ikeja and Mushin area of Lagos, with plans to open more retail outlets in Ibadan and other cities in the country.

“As a leading phones and communications trading company in the country, our goal is not only to drive innovations in the mobile phone market, but also to sustain it and boost patronage,” Coutroup said.

The purpose of extending our retail outlet to Victoria Island is hinged on our total commitment, dedication and openness, which have endeared us to great men and women that matters in the industry, he said.

He explained that Micro- Station had consolidated its frontline position as one of the leading mobile phones outlets and destination of choice for genuine phones, laptops and their accessories for both end users and wholesale alike in meeting the needs of customers.

At the Victoria Island retail outlet, the shop is stocked with modern mobile phones and laptops and accessories from virtually all brands, with trained staff ready to welcome customers and to guide them in making the best choice that suits their business and lifestyle.

The new retail shop uses Point of Sales (PoS) machines for customers to easily use their electronic cards in all fi nancial transactions after purchase.

“Our after sales service is positioned to address all customer complaints as they relate to defects and malfunctioning of any of the warranty products,” he said stating, however, that complaints have been reduced to barest minimum, since the fi rm deals only on trusted and genuine products.
