Oil theft: Stakeholder advises government

The Chairman, Gladtrico International Limited, Chief Eric Ebozele, has advocated citadel fencing of areas where pipelines are located nationwide.

Ebozele, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja after receiving an award of Best Citadel Fence Security Watch tower Construction and Installation services Company of the Year 2013, noted that with the specialised fencing, it would become impossible for oil vandals to gain access to pipeline sites.

He said his company was the exclusive agent for the oil and gas industry in the country.

According to him, the device easily analyses threats because it is a see-through machine with a small opening (aperture) that can deflect bullets fired into it.

Ebozele, who said he felt fulfilled concerning the award given to him by the Institute for Government Research and Leadership Technology, noted that his effort was being recognised and showed that there was dignity in labour.

He cited the 1,200 per meter citadel fencing around the Forcados terminal airstrip and the 1,500 fencing in Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company’s Pinnock Estate, Lekki, Lagos as some of the works his company had executed.

Ebozele called on government to stop neglecting host oil communities as a way out of the oil theft menace in the country.
