40,000 to be Provided With Free Medical Service in Kogi State

Kogi State government said it was ready to provide free rural medical service to over 40,000 patients across the 21 local government areas of the state.

The state commissioner for health, Dr Idris Omede, disclosed this yesterday during free medical services training workshop held at the Government House, Lokoja.

According to him, they have also planned to perform 250 eye surgery at Ankpa, Okene and Kabba zonal hospitals, saying that it was borne out of the high prevalence of various eye diseases in the areas during previous exercise.

He called on the participants to be committed to their training and carry out their assignment professionally.

In his speech, the Kogi State governor, Idris Wada, called on the 21 local government chairmen to support and key into the quarterly free rural medical programme for the benefit of the people.

Governor Wada who was represented by the secretary to the state government (SSG), Prof Olugbemi Jegede, commended CEDEO for taking free medical services to the grassroots.

He said without good medical services and good health his transformation agenda may not be fully achieved.
